There’s no doubt that matched against two or three years back internet poker is declining. The Illegal Internet Betting Enforcement Act of 2006 issued by an Act of Congress by the North American government was the beginning of the fall as many US voters were not able to continue playing on the internet. Many poker sites and networks have either closed down or been swallowed up by other networks. Some poker networks though have thrived due the Illegal Net Betting Enforcement Act with the Ipoker network being an excellent example. Many smaller European poker sites shortly realized that they couldn’t live without their American players and switched from dying networks to Ipoker. Full tilt poker has grown in the last few years from one of the smaller networks to the third largest network with a median of just below ten thousand money players at top EU time. Other networks such as Poker Stars and full-speed continue to permit USA citizens to play and have grown to be the largest networks in the last two years. Poker Stars has a wonderful 37,000 money players at top time where as full-tilt has sixteen thousand.
The 2 most important poker networks before the act are now in heavy decline. Nirvana full tilt news which use to attract thousands of money players every day is now part of the Chief network with several poker sites which only attract 3400 money players at top time. Party Poker’s traffic has fallen significantly and they only attract 8000 at top times. The future doesn’t look bright for the little networks and already Crypto Logic and Director have claimed that they may combine early in 2009 which to several appears like a weird call as they will continue to be a comparatively tiny network and the Manager software isn’t that popular with poker players.
