Sounds straightforward does it not? But the reality is I used to get so exasperated at being card dead. When I initially began playing on Final Bet one or two years back and saw some of the best contest players there like Sailor Lobell, PokerH0, KrazyKanuck, Legggggyyyyyy and others, I simply believed that I was the unluckiest poker player alive because I could not get cards to play, and when I had something decent my post flop play was horrible against these fellows. It took me awhile to understand that my hands – were also their hands and their hands were mine too! Naturally the difference was confidence, experience, and correct contest risk assessment.

That is not to say a dry spell of thirty, forty, even sixty hands can occur but when they do I am now psychologically prepared to handle it. Actually I absolutely “Zen-In ” and sheepishly grin that I ( and presumably you ) am a rare player indeed to double, fold, and fold thru this testing time of hole cards that otherwise would wish to make you throw your portable of the balcony. Nevertheless since I do the proper thing, it simply doesn’t signify what my cards are and you can take real pleasure in improving and working on your game while the poker Gods snipe in your direction. So grab ahold of your game by understanding what to do when card dead, and accepting that as a part of the poker contest puzzle that you’re going to be well placed to resolve with some dedication.
